pH Factor

"If it's a Miracle, any sort of evidence will answer, but if it is a Fact, proof is necessary” Mark Twain

Australia has the harshest, most extreme climate in the world, with such close proximity to the Antarctica and a gapping big hole in the ozone layer with skin burn time as rapid as five minutes, even in the shade. We also happen to be a continent defined by natural precious minerals and elements with immense restorative powers, notably gold, iron, nickel, uranium and zinc. So we use these remarkably precious elements in the highest grade, concentrated dosages (only possible for boutique skincare companies who are not trying to entice the mass market) to create a genuine elixir of good skin.

The focus of LaGaia skin care is not only a focus on creating the best protection against one of the harshest environments but also balancing pH of skin to create the best results with product use.

The pH of our skin is very important and is ideally slightly acidic t a pH level between 5-6. An imbalance of skin pH can lead to dehydration, inflammation, over active sebaceous glands and all around skin stress! Like we need anymore!

Alkaline skin care products can impair the skin barrier function after repeated applications over longer periods of time (more than 1 week). Trans-epidermal water loss (or TEWL) is defined as a measurement of the quantity of water that passes from inside a body through the epidermal layer to the surrounding atmosphere via diffusion and evaporation processes. This TEWL increases significantly in a single 24-h exposure to an alkaline product, which then increases the alkaline levels of your skin, not good! This significantly impairs the skin barrier by stripping the outer protective layers and exposing our sensitive system to a stress, free radical and germ-ridden environment, which causes many irritations.

Results of using a product that is to alkaline or too acidic creates skin imbalanced, these polar states and environmental stressors sends your skin into a reactive state. LaGaia understands skin. We formulate product within the pH of our skin’s natural state to bring it back to balance.

Our bodies systems are intelligent and recognise a friendly ingredient from a toxic ingredient. LaGaia’s formulations contain naturally occurring elements within our bodies for maximum hydration and results. We use them to formulate highly effective and results proven products. The pH of your skin care product used daily is very important for the proper function of your skin, the skin barrier, homeostasis and sensitivity.
