Why it works

1

We have great respect for the ancient Taoist practices ofGua Sha. We invite you to nourish and care for yourself by calming the nervoussystem and supporting the smooth flow of Qi throughout the body with our UNEDITEDGua Sha Comb. designed to stimulate and circulate the lymphatic system, smoothconnective tissue, release tension, toxins and promote the body’s naturalhealing processes as well as calm the nervous system.

The UNEDITED Gua Sha Comb is designed to be used on thescalp, with either an easy combing or brushing movements to ensure the tips ofthe com glide over the scalp or use the below process. Apply this tool approx.3 times weekly to get the most benefits.

Material

A stone of protection that is said to have the ability to improve mood. It is said to have the power to focus the mind, promoting mental clarity, assisting us to resolve problems objectively and unclouded by emotions.

Our Gua Sha is made from 100% natural stone. Due to the organic nature of the stone, each is unique and care must be taken when in use.

Benefits

'Gua' means to rub or scrape; Sha is the term used to describe congestion of blood at the surface of the body.

Caution – can cause dermal reddening and potentially minor short-term bruising through the stimulation of soft tissue. (be cautious with pressure.)

This isn’t designed to be a painful treatment however it can be uncomfortable depending on tension levels. Reddening and bruising can occur (toxins being drawn out of the body as described in Chinese medicine).

‘Sha’ – This redness helps bring blood flow to the epidermal layer of skin. With fresh oxygenated blood flooding to this area, it helps improve skin elasticity and regeneration.

Preparation

Preparation

1

Brush hair to ensure there are no knots.

2

If hair is wet, apply leave in treatment products for added scalp and length of hair benefits.

Sequence

3

Start with fingers to warm up scalp, massage thoroughly and firmly.

Combing

4

Starting at hairline, gently comb the front scalp section, begin where a central part would be. Comb through hair from forehead to high pony-tail point of scalp. Slowly work out covering all of front of scalp including side area’s, finishing at the top of ear. Slowly increase pressure as desired.

Zig zags

5

following same application, create zig zags with comb over scalp from hair line to end of front of scalp region, repeat this until scalp has a lovely stimulated feeling.

Small circles

6

following same application as the last two movements, create small static circles, with comb over scalp from hair line to end of front of scalp region, you can experience area’s with more tension, often these area’s require lighter pressure and more attention to gain benefits.

7

Repeat the above sequence on the back of scalp section. When applying the 3 movements above, start at base of skull where neck muscles connect and work up towards mid-point of skull.

8

Scalp will feel stimulated with healthy blood flow this can cause a cool yet hot feeling in skin as well as tingling. Enjoy the stimulation!

Application

1

Dry, Wet or with Conditioner, either work very well, the idea is that the tool easily glides over skin, through hair.

2

45 degree angle, is correct gua sha technique so remember the flatter your stone the better! Never apply stone perpendicular to skin.

3

To decongest and encourage lymphatic flow, the pressure must be very light on vessels. Just let to stone glide across the skin. Lymphatic nodes can take more pressure and require more activation than vessels. Each node can be stimulated 10-20 times with deep strokes or scooping movements for effective results. Lymphatic Vessels can be stimulated 5-10 times with gentle strokes.

Clinically Tested Ingredients

Clinically Tested Ingredients

LaGaia Unedited products have been through years of lab formulating and testing. For our key professional active ingredients, we have gone a little further and ensured that third party clinical testing has been conducted to prove their efficacy. This is essential as through this process we understand what pH level these ingredients require to remain potent and absorbable, what concentration needs to be added into the formulation for it to achieve saturation results, and finally what is the best base formulation for ‘X’ active ingredient.
