Ingredients

Traditionally used in Ancient Chinese Medicine, Bian Stonetherapy is the most ancient form of medical treatment in China, thought to havebeen made by the impact of meteorites upon the Earth’s surface in China’sWestern Shandong region during the Cretaceous period (65-66 million years ago).In-fact, this stone and TCM technique pre-dates acupuncture, used for its mysterious powers.

The unique mineral composition counts over 30 trace elements within the stone. Possibly the most interesting fact about this stone is that when rubbed against the skin the stone gives out ultrasonic impulses. These ultrasonic pulses can help the body fight against inflammation, promote blood circulation and improve the body's microcirculation, helping the body to create negative ions, improving antioxidant defences and cell regeneration.

Application

Oil Or Balm

either work very well, the idea is that thetool easily glides over skin. We have a few lovely options available.

45° Angle

this is correct gua sha technique so remember the flatter your stone the better! Never apply stone perpendicular to skin

Lymphatic System

To decongest and encourage lymphatic flow, the pressure must be very light on vessels. Just let to stone glide across the skin. Lymphatic nodes can take more pressure and require more activation than vessels. Each node can be stimulated 10-20 times with deep strokes or scooping movements for effective results. Lymphatic Vessels can be stimulated 5-10 times with gentle strokes.

Cellulite & Toning

To work fascia and musculature you may apply deeper more intense pressure, especially if the goal is to work on toning and cellulite concerns. Consistent use of a Gua Sha will reduce cellulite and tone the body. This can be paired with nutrition and lifestyle practices for more effective results.

Caution: pin-point bleeding and bruising is quite possible with this method, do not be alarmed, this will naturally heal and is a common side effect.

Benefits

  1. It can help those with severe skin concerns or those with none. It contains soothing ingredients like chamomile extract, sodium hydroxide and aloe vera which provide hydration and trace nutrients for revitalizing and enhancing skin. Notice the reduction in inflammation in the skin after 1 week’s use.
  2. This isn’t designed to be a painful treatment however it can be deeptissue if desired, which is where more reddening and bruising can occur (toxinsbeing drawn out of the body as described in Chinese medicine).
  3. ‘Sha’ – This redness helps bring blood flow to the epidermal layer of skin. With fresh oxygenated blood flooding to this area, it helps improve skin elasticity and regeneration.
  4. Gua Sha’s physical pressure increases the space between cells to encourage the toxins held inside capillaries and blood vessels to be flushed out via the circulatory system.
  5. Excellent for body sculpting and helping body remove fat cells, also called adipocytes. This treatment if done all over, especially areas of cellulite build up. It does this by helping to push out water content from adipocytes and in essence damaging/drying out the cell. Once the water content is released, adipocytes are used up as energy and removed by the dermal regeneration system.
  6. Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy, called chi, in the body that trained practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation. Inflammation is the underlying cause of several conditions associated with chronic pain. Rubbing the skin’s surface is thought to help break up this energy, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.
