A good nighttime skincare routine is very important. For products to penetrate properly and prevent build-up of congestive daily debris, you must have a clean, fresh face before your head hits the pillow. The best way to achieve this is to follow a couple of easy steps. So, if you want clear, soft & glowing skin every day, it’s time to get into a good nighttime habit and treat your skin to some TLC before you grab some zzz’s…

Makeup Remover & Cleanser

The first step you need to take when establishing a good nighttime skincare routine is to remove any makeup you might be wearing. Although it’s tempting to go to bed as is because you’re tired or your skin’s in OK shape, daily debris, pollution, oils and bacteria will build up and lead to congestion and clogged pores. A makeup remover will stop this from happening. A double cleanse is always recommended by professionals using a clean face cloth. A gentle cleanser will remove impurities and allow the skin to soak up your next set of products and regenerate overnight.

Exfoliator & Face Mask

There are two other products that, on rotation, will also help your skin rid itself of dry skin cells and debris. They are exfoliators & face masks. Exfoliation, although good at turning over skin cells and buffing away dead ones, can be a little abrasive and reddening if used too much. 1-2 times per week or as needed is usually recommended. Similarly, a sheet, clay or balm based face mask used once a week is another way to let hydrating, anti-inflammatory and anti-irritation ingredients absorb deep into the skin for overnight regeneration.

Serum & Night Cream

For your last steps, it’s time to seal in a more intensive product to target specific concerns best addressed at night. To minimise the most common signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles and eye bags or dark circles, serums & boosters are the most effective. They can also treat other stubborn issues such as clogged pores, pigmentation and dryness. Finally, a good nighttime skincare routine finishes up by locking everything in with a moisturising & nourishing night cream to boost hydration and collagen production.
